Amal Clooney wears 1920s-inspired Versace dress at Albie Awards in New York – Footwear News
Amal and George Clooney looked stunning on the red carpet yesterday as they attended the Clooney Foundation for Justice’s Inaugural Albie Awards at the New York Public Library in New York City. Amal was practically dipped in gold for the occasion, the star dressed in Atelier Versace.
The floor-length strappy dress was made of strung beads and crystals that faded into each other, the fringed style channeling a 1920s flapper look. The dress was dropped to the waist to create definition, each strand of sparkles cascading, almost like a waterfall, the structured silhouette provided by the garment.
Amal carried a gold mini purse and wore little to no jewelry beyond simple gold hoops that allowed the dress to stand on its own. The avocado lowered her dark locks and curled.
Mixing the metals, the lawyer stepped into shimmering silver strappy sandal heels by Aquazzura with criss-cross straps and an eye-catching sparkle. A stylish staple during the warmer months, many stiletto sandals feature a simple strap over the toes and a closure strap around the ankle, creating a barely there construction. The heel of a stiletto sandal is often 4 inches or more, which adds height for a flattering silhouette.
Beside her, George looked equally dashing, the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ actor dressed in a classic black and white suit that consisted of a pointed blazer jacket over a white button. Evening attire was paired with black pants, a bow tie of the same shade, a watch and shiny black dress shoes.
The Clooney Foundation’s Inaugural Albie Awards for Justice shine a light on people who dedicate their lives to justice, at the risk of their lives. It’s part of Clooney’s personal struggle, which they say is a response “to what we see in the world.”
